Policies & Procedures

All Famiies are issued a Family Handbook upon enrollment that details our mission, policies and procedures.  While all of the information in our Family Handbook is important, we have highlighted some of the most important inforatmion here:

Holidays observed by Kids ´R´ Kids Southshore & Waterset are:
New Year´s Day,  Memorial Day,  Independence Day,  Labor Day,  Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.  In the event these holidays fall on a weekend, we will honor the holiday by closing on either Friday or Monday.  We close at 3pm on Christmas Eve.

Prior to enrollment, your child(ren) will need a completed Enrollment Packet as well as Physical and Immunization forms (available from your pediatrician).  Additional forms may be required based on your child' age and classroom.  Information on forms regarding your child(ren) or specific Center forms must be updated as needed.

Fees -  Please see our Registration Brochure for current rates.  Please see our Tuition FAQ for payment information.

Medication (Please see our Handbook for our complete Medication Policy)

We strongly recommend that any medications your child requires be administered at home.  If it is absolutely necessary that medications are given at the center, you must comply with the following:

  • All prescribed medication must be left at the front desk with the person in charge. A medication form must be filled out completely and signed by the parent or guardian before any medication can be given.
  • Medications must be in the original container and labeled as follows: child´s name; current date; dosage; times to be given, expiration date; and any other special instructions.
  • Any non-prescription medication must have a signed, dated note from the child´s doctor stating the name of the child to receive the medication, name of the medication, amount to be given; times to be given; length of time to be given and any other special instructions.
  • Medications will only be dispensed by the person or persons designated by the Owner or Director of the Center.
  • Advil/Tylenol will not be given to reduce a fever unless there is a history of Febrile Seizuers and with a prescription from your pediatrician.

Medical Emergency

If a child becomes ill, injured, or has an adverse reaction to prescribed medication while at the Center, the parent(s) or emergency contact person will be notified immediately.  If it is necessary to seek immediate medical attention for a child, the child will be transported to St. Joseph's Hospital South. The child´s vehicle and emergency medical permission forms, as well as the health information file, will accompany the child.

Watch Me Grow Internet Access

Internet access is offered to full time and part time families with accounts in good standing.  Families are allowed access to your child´s classroom is by a password protected Watch Me Grow account. By enrolling your child at Kids ´R´ Kids you consent that your child(ren) may also be seen on the Internet by other persons viewing with passwords.  A Watch Me Grow User Agreement is required to be on file for all families in order to use this system.Sorry, Internet Access is not available to VPK-Only families.

Severe Weather, Fire or Emergency Situations

If an emergency situation develops such as severe weather, fire, physical damage to the building, or any other situation that poses a threat, the safety of the children is our first concern.  The Center is equipped with a weather band radio, a fire alarm sprinkler system and fire extinguishers. Fire and severe weather drills are conducted according to state and county regulations or every 30 days.

If there is an emergency situation develops and  and it becomes necessary to close the Center or if the premises are determined to be unsafe, families will be notified via website, email, Facebook, Portal, phone or text message to make arrangements for early pickup.

Alcohol, Drugs, and Tobacco - In our effort to provide a safe, healthy environment for each child to grow and develop, we maintain a Center free of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco use.

The Kids 'R' Kids of Waterset Discipline Policy is written to comply with Hillsborough County Child Care Licensing Rules & Regulations.  Our approach consists of positive redirection to guide children towards appropriate choices and behavior.

  • Children shall not be subjected to discipline which is severe, humiliating or frightening
  • Discipline shall not be associated with food, rest or toileting
  • Spanking or any other form of physical punishment is prohibited

At Kids ´R´ Kids we use a method of ´redirection´ to guide your child(ren) toward appropriate behavior. If a child is engaged in behavior not conducive to a safe and happy learning environment, the teacher will ´redirect´ the child toward appropriate behavior. (The use of physical punishment or harsh language is prohibited.)  Kids R Kids does not use Time Out as a disciplinary method.  Parents or guardians are required to abide by the Kids ´R´ Kids Discipline Policy any time they are on Center property.

The Parent's Role

The relationship between parents and Center staff is vital to the success of a child´s experience. A partnership must be formed the first day, with open communication and understanding that the development and growth of the child is our top priority.

Parents can assist and help ensure a smooth transition by doing the following:

  • Sign children in and out at the front desk and then escort them to their designated class.
  • Have all forms completed promptly Update forms, as needed, when changes occur (i.e. new phone number,
  •     address, etc.)
  • Keep staff informed of special needs or changes that might affect your child´s behavior
  • Notify the Center if your child is ill - Do not bring an ill child to the Center
  • Notify the Center if your child will be absent
  • Notify the Center if you will be later than usual picking up your child
  • Provide a change of clothes marked with your child´s name (Center is not responsible for lost clothing) Children should be dressed properly for the weather and play
  • Do not allow children to bring toys
  • Participate in the Center´s special activities
  • Attend scheduled parent meetings and conferences
  • Ask questions and address concerns as they arise.
